Ruojia Wo (b. Zhejiang, China) is an artist whose practice unfolds across expanded image-making, integrating photography, moving image, graphic visuality, and installation. He received his Master in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, New York.
His work operates at the intersection of image regimes and epistemic structures, attending to the ways in which visuality participates in the production and circulation of knowledge. His recent projects engage with the temporal entanglement of power and discourse, foregrounding how systems of classification and naming—particularly within botanical archives—are implicated in the formation of imperial knowledge. Through strategies of archival re-visualization, he reconfigures historical materials into speculative image-fields, exposing the latent taxonomies and invisible hierarchies embedded within them.
His exhibitions span institutions such as the Zhejiang Art Museum, Zhejiang Exhibition Hall, Huamao Museum of Art Education(MoAE), SVA Gramercy Gallery, Mana Contemporary, and Banshan Gallery Tokyo, etc.
He has been recognized through multiple platforms, including being shortlisted for the TOP20·2025 Chinese Contemporary Photographers and inclusion in the 2024 Annual Report of Chinese Contemporary Photography and Video Arts. He is a recipient of the Jury Selection Prize of the 3rd China Youth Photography Promotion Program, and has been selected for the Zhejiang Province Emerging Talent Program. His work has also been recognized by the 1st Natural Growth Chinese Photographer Grant and the 1st Banshan Photography Award (Top 6).
